Tai Chi for Fall Prevention

July 30, 2022 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am

With Pam Vlahakis at Chase Park, Chatham at the Labyrinth
$30 for session
Preregistration is required
Rain Date: July 31

Tai Chi walking in all directions, forward, backward and to the sides will be introduced as it is an excellent balance exercise as you slowly transfer weight from one leg to the other with brief moments of balancing on one leg. A unique tai chi form comprised of 8 movements and 5 steps will also be introduced. Tai Chi helps build strength in the core and legs which gives the body structural integrity which helps to prevent falls. Tai Chi also helps manage stress and builds confidence thus reducing the fear of falling which is an independent risk factor of falling.

Participants will learn basic tai chi principles and postures that help strengthen the body and improve balance.

Instructor, Pamela Vlahakis has a Masters in Education with over 25 years as a Registered Dietitian focusing on Wellness.
