Qigong/Tai Chi Class on the Labyrinth – August 3

Qigong is an ancient system of mind-body exercises originated for the purpose of promoting health and healing by cultivating and balancing the qi which is the internal energy flow. Tai Chi was first developed as a martial art form for self-defense. Today people practice Qigong and Tai Chi for health and wellness as they both consist of breath awareness, focused concentration and gentle rhythmic movement. This combined Qigong/Tai Chi class may include the Therapeutic Qigong 36 form, Buddhist Qigong Crane form, and Tai Chi elements and mini forms from the Cheng Man-ching Yang Tai Chi style.
The movements and exercises in this class are practiced from a standing position, however, participants are welcome to bring their own lawn chair if they would like to do some of the practice from seated.
We also want to mention that the class is being offered outdoors at the sacred labyrinth in Chatham. With everyone’s safety in mind we ask that participants practice social distancing and wear a mask upon entering and leaving. However with plenty of fresh air and adequate spacing, masks are optional once class has started.
Pam Vlahakis has taught Yoga and Qigong/Tai Chi classes for all ages from 3 to late 80’s and for all abilities in a variety of settings including hospital wellness center, schools, senior centers, corporate wellness and yoga studios. She has developed and implemented mind/body and wellness programs with positive outcomes for individuals and groups. She has been a Certified yoga teacher for over 19 years and 10 years as a Certified Qigong Teacher.
